How do I register to file electronically in Ohio?

Tax preparers are automatically registered with Ohio as an Electronic Return Originator (ERO) as long as they are registered and approved as an ERO by the IRS. Please do not submit a copy of the IRS acceptance letter or IRS form 8633.

Tax preparers who transmit returns using approved third-party software do not have to submit any tests to the Department of Taxation. Returns cannot be submitted using third-party software that has not been approved by the Department. A list of approved software is available on the “Tax Preparer Electronic Filing” webpage.
