Can I deduct amounts relating to casualty or theft losses such as natural disaster damages, Ponzi scheme losses or property theft for Ohio income tax purposes?

No. While the IRS allows an itemized deduction for casualty, disaster and theft losses, Ohio law does not have a corresponding state tax deduction for such losses, nor any credit or exemption for such amounts. As such, the amounts are not deductible on your Ohio Individual Income Tax Return for any tax year.
