The Ohio Department of Taxation has compiled a list of frequently asked questions covering many different categories.

If I adopted more than one child in the same year and both adoptions were finalized, can I claim the Ohio Adoption Credit for each child?

Yes. For tax year 2013, The credit is $1,500 per child. For tax years 2014 and forward, the credit is the greater of $1,500 or up to $10,000 of incurred expenses per child. For example, if a taxpayer finalized the adoption of three children in tax year 2017 and incurred expenses for each child that exceeded $10,000, the taxpayer could claim $30,000 on the Ohio Adoption Credit line.
