The Ohio Department of Taxation has compiled a list of frequently asked questions covering many different categories.

To view the questions, click on the "Select Category" bar and then click on the category you are interested in.  A list of questions will appear pertaining to that category. Then click on the question you are inquiring about and the answer will appear.

I did not receive my school district booklet in the mail, why?

The department is no longer mailing school district income tax booklets in an effort to streamline operations and reduce costs. Electronic filing has become the preferred method used by Ohio taxpayers. The options available for filing a 2017 school district income tax return are:

 I-File - Ohio I-File is a free filing service that guides you through a series of questions and information requests. Based upon the information you provide, I-File computes your refund or balance due, electronically submits the tax information, provides you with a transcript and gives you a filing confirmation number.  Federal/State e-file - IRS e-file is a way to prepare and file your own return electronically with the IRS and Ohio. More information, including a free federal e-filing program for qualified individuals, is available at You can also e-file through an approved, commercially available software program or you can have your return prepared and transmitted by an authorized tax professional. You may be required to pay fees to utilize these private services.

 A limited number of booklets and tax forms will be available at libraries and post offices. You may also download paper forms from our Web site.
