Frequently Asked Questions

The Ohio Department of Taxation has compiled a list of frequently asked questions covering many different categories.

To view the questions, click on the "Select Category" bar and then click on the category you are interested in.  A list of questions will appear pertaining to that category. Then click on the question you are inquiring about and the answer will appear.

What options do I have to pay my individual income or school district income tax due through Income Tax Online Services?

Income Tax Online Services provides three options for paying:

1. Electronic check. If you choose the electronic check payment option, you will be given the opportunity to future date your payment transaction as long as it does not extend past the due date of your return.

2. Credit card. Our Ohio ePayment system is linked directly to Official Payments Corporation that charges a 2.5%  service fee for this option. The Department of Taxation does not receive any portion of this fee.

3. Check or money order made with the IT 40P voucher for the IT 1040 (individual income) return or the SD 40P payment voucher for the SD 100 (school district) return.
