Cigarettes, Master Settlement Agreement and Other Tobacco Products
NOTE: The Department of Taxation is in the process of launching a new tobacco tax system. We will soon begin accepting electronic returns and payments for Cigarette Tax and Other Tobacco Products Tax.
In order to ensure a smooth transition to the new system, the Department is soliciting test files from filers in advance of the system go-live. As such, when you are able to include the attached changes in your accounting system, please consider sending test files to the Department for processing. As with any new system, the more testing we can perform, the better the system will operate upon go-live. The new draft format (which includes XML and ASCII) can be found below.
*These schemas can only be used in production on or after February 5, 2018. The Department strongly encourages wholesalers/distributors to start testing with the new schemas. The format files are subject to change while we are testing. An email will be sent if the formats are updated.
Once a test file has been produced, it can be emailed to email@example.com. Upon receipt of the test file, the Department will review it and provide feedback prior to the electronic filing requirement.
