Sales and Use Tax
Sales and Use Tax Collections for July 2005 through
December 2005, by Industrial Classification
The Ohio Department of Taxation is required under ORC Section
5739.36 to summarize and publish sales tax collections by
industrial classification for each preceding six month
period. The following table covers sales tax
collections for July through December 2005.
For the last six months of calendar year 2005, state and
permissive (i.e. local) sales and use tax collections totaled
$4.0 billion from a total of 228,368 accounts. Out of the 37
classification groups, sales tax collections ranged from a
high of $582.1 million by general merchandise stores to a low
of $34,061 by cultural institutions. The number of
accounts per classification ranged from 51,410 miscellaneous
store retailers to 19 management companies.
