Sales and Use Tax Collections for January 2009
through June 2009, by Industrial Classification
For the January through June 2009 period, approximately $3.8
billion in state and permissive (local) sales & use tax
was collected from 177,749 different sales vendors. The
following table summarizes the sales tax data by type of
industry classification for the indicated six-month period.
Out of the 30 classification groups, sales tax collections
ranged from a high of $514.1 million by general merchandise
stores to a low of $1.2 million by mining companies. The
number of accounts per classification ranged from 30,560
miscellaneous store retailers to 33 holding companies.
