Sales and Use Tax
Sales and Use Tax Collections for January 2008
through June 2008, by Industrial Classification
For the January 1 through June 30, 2008 period, approximately
$4.1 billion in state and permissive (local) sales & use
tax was collected from 183,972 different sales vendors. The
following table summarizes the sales tax data by type of
industry classification for the indicated six-month period.
Out of the 30 classification groups, sales tax collections
ranged from a high of $520.7 million by general merchandise
stores to a low of $1.6 million by mining companies. The
number of entities per classification ranged from 33,370
miscellaneous store retailers to 31 holding companies.
