Sales and Use Tax
Sales and Use Tax Collections for July 2009 through
December 2009, by Industrial Classification
For the July 1 through December 31, 2009 period,
approximately $3.9 billion in state and permissive (local)
sales & use tax was collected from 170,050 different
sales vendors. The following table summarizes the sales tax
data by type of industry classification for the indicated
six-month period.
Out of the 30 classification groups, sales tax collections
ranged from a high of $567.2 million by general merchandise
stores to a low of $1.3 million by holding companies. The
number of accounts per classification ranged from 27,657
miscellaneous store retailers to 30 holding companies.
