Valuations of Taxable Real Property and Exempt Real Property
as a Percentage of all Real Property, by County, Calendar
Real property is assessed at 35 percent of its appraised
value for taxation purposes. The values listed in the
following tables are the assessed values.
The total assessed valuation of real property in 1995 was
$141.4 billion. The assessed value of real property which was
taxable was $121.1 billion, or 85.7 percent of the value of
all real property. Assessed real property that was exempt
from taxation in 1995 was $20.3 billion or 14.3 percent of
the value of all assessed real property in the state.
Pike County had the greatest percentage of exempt property at
65.4 percent. Holmes County had the greatest percentage of
taxable real property with 94.5 percent.
