Delinquent Property Taxes: Taxes Due and Payable, by County, in Calendar Year 2011
The table shows total delinquent property taxes for calendar year 2011 for all Ohio counties. It includes property taxes reported as unpaid in calendar year 2011, including taxes that became delinquent in preceding years which were still unpaid in 2011.
Two categories of delinquent taxes are presented: all real property plus public utility personal property (delinquencies for real and public utility personal property taxes are not separated) and special assessments. The actual amounts of the delinquencies, and additional penalties and interest imposed on the delinquent taxes, are included in the figures.
Total delinquencies were $1,940.6 million, an 11.7% increase from the 2010 total of $1,737.8 million. Real and public utility personal property delinquencies comprised $1,707.7 million of the calendar year 2011 delinquencies while special assessment delinquencies totaled $232.9 million.
Among Ohio counties, Cuyahoga had the highest amount of total delinquencies, with $552.4 million. Van Wert County had the lowest amount of delinquencies at $854,259; Guernsey County did not report their delinquencies.
Data for this table were taken from abstracts filed by county auditors with the Ohio Department of Taxation.
