Individual Income Tax
2006 Income Tax Returns By School District

Table Y-2 contains information from 2006 Ohio personal income tax returns categorized by school district as indicated by taxpayers on their returns. State law requires that Ohio income tax returns include a line on which taxpayers indicate their school district of residence.

A total of 5,348,729 Ohio personal income tax returns were filed for tax year 2006 (April 17, 2007 filing deadline). Of these, 5,240,151 (98.0 percent) indicated a school district of residence.

The statewide average income (federal adjusted gross income) reported on all 2006 tax returns was $63,444 per return.  The Indian Hill Exempted Village School District in Hamilton County reported the highest average income of all 614 school districts, with $363,249 per return. The lowest average income was reported in New Boston Local School District in Scioto County, with $24,512 per return.

Because of changes to our data collection techniques, beginning with the 2005 Y-1 table, we are able to provide information on a greater number of data elements than in prior years.  We have combined the data from four different reports into this single document.  Because of the expanded data, we are only providing the Y-2 table in Excel format, rather than both that format and PDF.
