Kilowatt Distributors, Self-Assessing Purchasers, Natural Gas Distributors
Ohio Senate Bill 287 levied a kilowatt hour tax on electric distribution companies and self assessing commercial or industrial purchasers of electricity. The bill also levied a tax on natural gas distributors. Electric distribution companies will remit tax due on the electricity they have distributed to an end user. Self assessing commercial or industrial purchasers will remit tax based on the kilowatt hours received and the price paid for the kilowatt hours. Natural gas distributors will remit tax based on the natural gas they have distributed to an end user.
