What type of hardware and software is required?

You will need a computer with a standard browser and access to the Internet.

Supported Browsers:
The Income Tax Online Services applications are available on the following browsers.  Other browser options may work, but only the following have been tested and verified.

  • Internet Explorer version 11.0
  • Edge version 25.0
  • Mozilla Firefox 50.0.2
  • Google Chrome 55.0

128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption:

Your computer browser must be capable of 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. Most browsers are capable of this encryption support.

Session cookies must be enabled. The default browser settings have session cookies enabled, so you will be able to use this site unless you have specifically modified this browser option.

What is a session cookie?

A session cookie (also called per-session cookie) is a text-only string that gets entered into the memory of your browser. The value of this string is set by our Web site programs when you visit. Session cookies help us make sure that only you have access to your tax information.

Other recommendations:

We recommend that you have a printer available to print a copy of your tax return for your records.

We also recommend that JavaScript be enabled, but it is not required. The default browser settings should have JavaScript enabled.

Depending on your system configuration and options you select, your PC may or may not be able to use the Ohio I-File application.
