Sales and Use Tax

Sales and Use Tax Collections for July 2007 through December 2007, by Industrial Classification

For the July 1 through December 31, 2007 period, approximately $4.2 billion in state and permissive (local) sales & use tax was collected from 181,507 different sales vendors. The following table summarizes the sales tax data by type of industry classification for the indicated six-month period.

Out of the 30 classification groups, sales tax collections ranged from a high of $604.6 million by general merchandise stores to a low of almost $1.0 million by holding companies. The number of accounts per classification ranged from 32,833 miscellaneous store retailers to 30 holding companies.
