State of Ohio Warrants
Ohio Has "New Look" for State Checks The State of Ohio has changed the way our checks look. Below is an example of the new check – commonly called a warrant. The illustrations below are of the front, back and remittance information (check stub) of the new warrant. The new warrant began appearing July 1, 2007. The revised warrant format is part of a larger plan to make state operations more efficient through implementation of the Ohio Administrative Knowledge System (OAKS). When fully implemented, OAKS will integrate data from the state’s human resources, accounting, purchasing and fixed asset management system. It is no longer the legal responsibility of the Ohio Auditor’s office to issue warrants; this is now assigned to the Director of the Office of Budget and Management. As a result, the new warrants bear the name of the state agency making the payment and the signature of the director of the Office of Budget and Management rather than the Auditor of State. Also, note that the Warrant could be either 7.5 or 8.5 inches long as we are phasing out the use of the 7.5 inch version. Most information on the new warrant is the same as on the old, only it is in a different place.
