Assessment Team Invites Public Comment
COLUMBUS, Ohio (April 28)--
A team of assessors arrives Saturday from the Commission on
Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), to
examine all aspects of the Ohio Department of Taxation
Enforcement Division’s policy and procedures, management,
operations, and support services, Deputy Tax Commissioner
Fred Nicely announced today. The public is invited to offer
comments Sunday via a toll-free telephone line.
Verification by the team that the Enforcement Division meets
the Commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a
voluntary process to gain re-accreditation – a highly prized
recognition of law enforcement professional excellence, he
said.
As a part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and
members of the community are invited to offer comments Sunday
by calling 866-227-0004 between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The members
of the team who will be assessing the Enforcement Division as
well as taking comments are William R. Bleyle, team leader,
and Richard A. Haake and James M. Yost, team
leaders.
Telephone comments at the public information session are
limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability
to comply with CALEA’s standards. A copy of the
