• Office of the Governor News Release: Approximately 788,000 Homeowners in Line to Receive Property Tax Relief— Oct. 25, 2007

  Governor Ted Strickland today announced that about 566,000 additional homeowners applied for the newly-expanded homestead exemption during a special sign up period earlier this year from July 2 to October 1.

  Governor Ted Strickland today announced a 4.2 percent decrease in income tax withholding rates for 2008, which is another step in the phase in of a 21- percent, across-the-board income tax cut that will be completed by the 2009 tax year.

  Ohio retailers who engage in delivery sales will not be required to change the way they calculate sales taxes starting Jan. 1, the Ohio Department of Taxation announced today."

  Ohio Tax Commissioner Richard A. Levin announced today that Ohio residents and businesses in Seneca and Hardin counties will be granted an extension to Oct. 15, 2007 to file and pay Ohio taxes.

  Ohio Tax Commissioner Richard A. Levin announced today that Ohio residents and businesses stricken by last week's severe flooding will be granted an extension to Oct. 15, 2007 to file and pay Ohio taxes.

• Over 368,000 Ohioans Have Applied for Property Tax Relief — Aug. 23, 2007

  With the deadline more than a month away, more than 368,000 senior citizens and disabled homeowners across Ohio have already applied for the newly-expanded homestead exemption, the Ohio Department of Taxation announced today.

  Ohio retailers whose delivery sales in calendar year 2005 totaled less than $30 million are getting a break from a provision of the Streamlined Sales Tax Agreement that would have required them to shift this year to a destination-based means of calculating sales tax.

• Ohio Department of Taxation Informs Retailers of New Cuyahoga County Cigarette Tax— Feb. 1, 2007

  Effective today, cigarette smokers in Cuyahoga County will pay 30 cents more tax per pack due to the voter-approved tax to fund arts and cultural facilities and programs.

• 01/31/07 Department of Taxation Picks New Legislation Chief— Jan. 31, 2007

  Tom Walsh, a senior staffer from the Ohio General Assembly, has joined the Ohio Department of Taxation as Administrator of the Legislation Division.

  New Tax Commissioner Richard Levin today, in one of his first official acts,  announced his management team at a meeting of Ohio Department of Taxation (ODT) administrators in Columbus.
