The Ohio Virtual Tax Academy (OVTA) is designed to provide tax-related information to small business owners. Attorneys and accountants are also invited to attend and can earn up to three (3) CPE and CLE credits. Participants can attend the event in person (limited seating available) or view it from anywhere as an online webinar. Follow the links on the left hand side for more information about registration.

Note: Effective January 1, 2014, attorneys may earn up to 12 hours of self-study CLE credit towards their annual limit from online webinars.

Administrator - Personal Income & School District Income Tax

Deborah comes to her position with over twenty-five years of tax experience, both private and public sector.  Deborah has been the administrator of Personal Income & School District Income Tax for over 5 years and was previously the administrator of the Commercial Activity Tax Division. 


Raina Nahra

Raina M. Nahra, J.D., LL.M.

Legal Counsel - Income & PTE Tax

Raina's focus areas include the personal income and pass-through entity taxes. Raina has assisted in the analysis and writing of tax legislation and has written Tax Commissioner Opinions and Information Releases. She also serves as the Department’s Chief Disclosure Officer and IRS Liaison.

Legal Counsel – Commercial Activity & Excise Taxes

In her position, Laura is responsible for drafting final determinations, legal ruling requests, administrative rules, information releases, and reviewing proposed legislation, as well as advising the Administrators of the Commercial Activity and Excise Tax Divisions and Tax Commissioner’s Office on legal matters.

Executive Administrator - Taxpayer Services and Compliance Divisions

Ron was appointed as Executive Administrator of the Taxpayer Services Division and Compliance Division in March of 2013. Previous to this, Ron held the position of Executive Administrator of the Audit Division and has been with the agency for over 30 years.

Information Technology Senior Manager

Jack has been responsible for the Ohio Department of Taxation’s web site since its beginning on October 3, 1995. Jack’s other responsibilities at the Ohio Department of Taxation include managing two application development units and the Project Management Office.

Debra has worked for the Department for 10 years specializing in Sales and Use Tax as well as Commercial Activity Tax. Prior to working for the Department she spent 7 years working for a private outpatient surgery center in Warren Ohio as their staff accountant.
